Indoor Picnic Draws Crowd

Community

The threat of rain and the unsolved regional sniper case forced the Reston Community Center to move its annual picnic inside. The change of venue didn't keep the residents away. They feasted on hot dogs, salads and sodas while being entertained musically by a disc jockey. The children were kept busy with face painting, balloon animals, magic shows and Silencia the Mime. The parents also got a chance to cast their ballot for the Reston Community Center Board of Governors.

"We always hold the picnic on election day," said Haywood Hopson, the special events coordinator for the center. "I think it's what the community needed right now. It's a nice turnout."
