Fame Hits Centreville — 'Fame - The Musical' That Is

"Fame - The Musical" is based on the Academy Award-winning movie and the highly successful TV series. Set in New York City's legendary High School for Performing Arts, from 1980-1984, "Fame - The Musical" takes the audience through the highs, the lows, the romances and the ultimate triumphs of the star-struck pupils in their quest for success.

Conceived and developed by David De Silva, with music by Steve Margoshes, lyrics by Jacques Levy and a book by Jose Fernandez, "Fame - The Musical" has been seen by millions worldwide. "Fame" had its world premiere in 1988 at the Coconut Grove Playhouse in Miami. Since then, "Fame" has been performed all over the world.

Mickey DeVito, who is in the School of Dance, says he is "really excited about our [Centreville's] production of 'Fame', because we have such a great cast, and an awesome director, musical director and choreographer!"

Many of the members of the cast are in agreement. Meghan McDonough, who plays Iris, the haughty, classically trained ballerina, during certain performances, also commented on "the talent of the cast and directors." McDonough who is in her first production at Centreville also commented on the "amazing experience," she has had so far being in the cast of Fame.

All of Centreville is excited about their production of "Fame," and you can see what it feels like to "live forever," starting April 29, 30 at 7:30 p.m. and May 1 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
