Decorating at River Farm

Using decorations provided by the American Horticultural Society as well as handmade decorations sent in by children from all over the country, several members of Yacht Haven Garden Club spent hours decorating River Farm for the holidays.

Under the direction of decorating chairman Linda Eley they transformed the historic home into a winter wonderland.

In addition to the decorations adorning windows and doors, the garden club set up several theme trees. A Flower & Fauna tree greets guests when they enter the foyer. In the parlor is the Lewis & Clark tree, while the Bountiful Harvest tree graces a corner of the dining room. A small Solar System tree sits in the hallway on the wall to the ballroom, where the George Washington and Americana trees majestically stand on either side of the fireplace.

Members helping with the project included: Linda McCormack, Ebba Jo Spettel, Frances Prescott, Carla Amerau, Diane and Alicia Brooks, Marcia Siegert, Babs McClendon, Angelita Kabler, Mahrou Akhundzadeh, Godi Habib, Joan Jones, Jacque Knight, Diane Watts and Bonnie Lilley.

River Farm is open for viewing from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. They are located at 7931 E. Boulevard Drive. For more information, call 703-768-5700.
