Presbyterian Church in Washington, D.C. for his God and Me award,
achieved at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in McLean.. He also received a streamer for his Pack's flag. Matthew was among 44 Cub and Boy Scouts, from the Washington metropolitan area, honored for their religious awards. The even was led by Walter E. Varner, chairman of the Protestant Committee on Scouting. Reverend Ken Schnepp, pastor at Oxon Hill Lutheran Church made the awards. An adult God and Service award was made to Boy Scout leader Kurt Johnson of Falls Church Presbyterian
Church.
Indigo Children Workshop - Their Auras and Their Purpose, will be held on Saturday, February 26, from 9 a.m. to 1 pm at the Unity of Fairfax Church, 2854 Hunter Mill Road, Oakton. The workshop features Lowell K. Smith who is a gifted intuitive with special interest in helping today’s children understand their unique strengths and powers and showing parents and relatives ways to guide them.
Indigo Children are bright, intuitive, and strong-willed. They are more challenging, more intelligent, more confrontational, more intuitive and more spiritual. This calls for a new and different way of parenting and schooling, outside of the old ways.Learn techniques that will help in making evaluations regarding their special abilities and how to relate to Indigo children.

The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer's Faith and Life Forums are one-hour programs featuring a speaker and followed by discussion relating to the topic of living one's Christian faith on a daily basis. They take place every Sunday at 9:45 a.m.
On Sunday, Feb. 27, Redeemer member Dr. Thomas M. Imhoof presents "The Modern Theologian Series: Reinhold Niebuhr."
On Sunday, March 6, Pastor Sherry Brumback, director of Christian education at Redeemer will begin March forum with the "Vision for Education at Redeemer."
On Sunday, March 13, Redeemer member Doug Scheffler will discuss "St. Mark and His Gospel."
On Sunday, March 20, Professor Denise Hopkins of the Wesley Theological Seminary will lead a discussion on "The Religious Atmosphere of First-Century Palestine."
The March 27 forum will not be held, due to the Easter Holiday.

The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer will participate in the annual World Vision 30-Hour Famine on Feb. 25-26. Students ask for sponsor donations as they engage in a 30-hour "juice fast." They will also take part in activities to help them better understand life in developing countries, and they will participate in community service projects to help others in the McLean area. Funds raised will be used to feed hungry families in the United States, Africa and Asia.
