Waynewood Takes 'Hats Off to Democracy'

Annual Independence Day Celebration features parade, food, rides and games.

Hundreds of people came out for Waynewood’s Annual Independence Day Celebration held on the Fourth of July. The theme this year was "Hats Off to Democracy." It started off with the traditional Founders Brunch followed by the Hometown Parade.

Fire and police vehicles led the parade followed by hundreds of children on foot, on scooters, bicycles and in wagons. Cars escorted various local personalities and the United States Park Police was represented by four officers on horseback.

The parade ended on the grounds of the Waynewood Recreation Association where guests enjoyed a classic cookout. Children enjoyed the Midway games and rides and then gathered at the pool for the greased watermelon contest.
