Gas Line Relocation

A gas line relocation on Monroe Street will require the closure of Monroe Street, from Park Avenue to Pine Street, beginning June 28, for approximately 30 days between 7:30 a.m. and 8 p.m., Monday through Friday. Only local and emergency traffic will be allowed on that portion of Monroe Street. Detours will be designated during the closure.

Robbery Investigation

The Herndon Police are investigating a robbery case that took place on the 300 block of Elden Street.

Wednesday, June 22, at approximately noon, officers responded to the Video Connection for an armed robbery, according to police.

Two subjects entered the store and fled the area with an undisclosed amount of cash. Subject one is described as a black male, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches, 160-170 pounds, thin build, wearing a white t-shirt, dark shorts, tennis shoes and a ski mask, according to police reports. Subject two is described as a black male, 5 feet 7 inches, 180 pounds, medium build, also wearing a ski mask, according to police.

The Herndon Police are asking for anyone who observed any suspicious activity in the area or anyone with further information, to call Detective Duranko, Herndon Police at 703-435-6846.

Independence Day Celebration

The town will celebrate Independence day with tug-of-war, sack races, arts and crafts, bingo and more.

The July 4th Celebration will be held at the Herndon Community Center/Bready Park complex starting at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. There will be live family entertainment throughout the evening as well as food, including hot dogs, hamburgers, funnel cakes and cotton candy. Fireworks are scheduled to start at 9:30 p.m.

Parking is available at the Herndon Middle School (901 Locust Street), Herndon Community Center (814 Ferndale Avenue), and St. Joseph's Church (750 Peachtree Street).

The July 4th Celebration is presented by the Herndon Parks and Recreation Department. Call the Herndon Community Center at 703-435-6868.
