The Virginia Cavaliers 65s prevailed over 292 teams to win the Huntsman World Senior Softball Games in St. George, Utah earlier this month. Started and managed by Great Falls resident George Hersey, the Cavaliers play in the age-65 and over bracket.

David Knorr represented Country Club at Woodmore in Arlington at 2005 CMAA National Club Championship held at Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina. He was one of 56 finalists to play in the final two rounds. This championship enables amateur club champions from across the country and world to compete at the highest levels.

Marianne Mooney of Arlington has been honored by the Fairfax County Park Authority. She is a Resource Management Division volunteer who was given a Volunteer Excellence Award. She serves two Park Authority sites - dividing time between Huntley Meadows Park and Green Spring Gardens. She has done everything from customer service at Huntley Meadows Park to writing articles for various publications and gardening at Green Spring Gardens.
