Although the weather may not feel like fall is on its way, area trees have signaled the changing of seasons over the last few weeks.
Turning from green to yellow, orange, red and now brown, Herndon's tress, shrubs and other plants have quickly lost their color, foretelling winter's arrival. And, just when residents think they have raked the last of the leaves from their yards, another gust of wind comes through, turning the green lawns into a sea of brown.
