Artist, John Leone, will teach an intensive five-day workshop at the Loudoun Academy of the Arts in Leesburg, Oct. 24-28. Known for his equine and landscape artwork that is painted in the Old Master's style, Leone is also an instructor who works with beginners as well as professional artists, tailoring his instruction to the needs of the student.

Workshop dates are Monday-Friday, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. each day. Cost of the workshop is $495. Participants are encouraged to register now to ensure space.

Registration is open for art classes and workshops at the

Loudoun Academy of the Arts. The next session begins the week of Oct. 31 and continues through Dec. 19.

Adult classes include sculpture, drawing, from drawing to painting and a variety of painting classes in oil, pastel and watercolor, with focuses on still life, landscape and portraiture. Calligrapher, Pat Blair, will instruct a course in copperplate calligraphy for all levels of interest. Ceramics and photography are also offered. Life drawing continues on Monday evenings for artists who want to draw from a live model.

Children's classes for 5- to 12-year-olds are offered on weekday afternoons and Saturdays in drawing basics, painting, sculpting and clay. Hip art is structured for young artists aged 10 to 14, and a parent/child class for ages 2 1/2 to 5 is also available.

* Five-Day Oil Painting Workshop, Oct. 24-28, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Internationally acclaimed John Leone is known for his equine and landscape art which is painted in the Old Master's Style. In this workshop, tailored to the needs of the students, he will instruct participants in the handling of light and color. Fee is $495.

* Introduction to Glassblowing. Weekend workshops with Dario DeHoyas allow students to develop skills in molten glass. 12-4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. $230 includes all
