For athletes who are "forever young," registration is now open for the 2006 Virginia Senior Games. The Games, which feature over 50 sporting events for competitors age 50 and over, will be held May 11-14, at various venues in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The Virginia Senior Games serve as the qualifying venue for the 2007 Summer National Senior Games. This event typically attracts over 12,000 athletes from 49 states.

SCAT, Senior Center Adult Transportation, is a taxi service for Arlington seniors, 55 and older, to go to senior centers for a round-trip cost of $4. The Arlington Agency on Aging has electric fans available for Arlington residents age 60 and older whose maximum annual income for a single person is $14,355, or $19,245 for a two-person household. Three groups rehearse at Culpepper Garden Senior Center, 4435 N. Pershing Drive, the Songfellows, Diamonds and 60 Karats. Senior Travel. The county's Office of Senior Adult Programs (OSAP) offers a variety of travel opportunities and day excursions throughout the year. Trips range in price from $8-$80 and include theaters, museums, sports, outlet shopping, casinos and historic sites. Overnight trips are planned several times a year.
