Julie Lan Chen (formerly Burns), 56, longtime resident of Mount Vernon and proprietor of the Classic Hair salon passed away Sept. 1 after a year-long battle with gastric cancer. She leaves a husband Roy Madgwick, son Tim, daughter Christina and Christina's 4-month old daughter Jade, the light of her grandmother's life in the later stages of her life. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. Donations may be made to the Cancer Society.
