Kristen M. Caligan of Herndon was inducted into the Beta Nu Psi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Northern Virginia Community College on Oct. 1. Phi Theta Kappa is the oldest and most prestigious honor society serving two-year colleges around the world. Students must rank in the top 20% of the class to be invited to membership in Phi Theta Kappa and must maintain high academic standing during their enrollment in the two-year college.
The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement (CALEA) announced the appointment of Herndon Mayor Steven DeBenedittis. The Commission has 21 members; 11 members are law enforcement practitioners and the remaining 10 members are from the public and private sectors. The position is voluntary with Commissioners appointed to a term of three years. The appointment is effective Jan. 1.
