Tax attorney Albert B. Ellentuck, Esq. of Potomac was presented with the Arthur J. Dixon Award at a luncheon held Oct. 30 as part of the fall meeting of the Tax Division of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants at the J. W. Marriott in Washington, D.C.

Ellentuck practices law at King & Nordlinger LLP, located in Arlington, Va. He was formerly the head of the Tax Department of the International Accounting Firm of Laventhol & Horwath, and prior to that had served as a specialist in the IRS Office of Chief Counsel (formerly Rulings Division). Although he now specializes in estates, trusts and family businesses, he has written and spoken extensively on a range of tax subjects.

The Arthur J. Dixon Award is the highest award given by the accounting profession in the area of taxation. The award was given to Ellentuck for his record of more than three decades of leadership and service in the field of taxation. He served as chairman of the Institute’s Tax Executive Committee, and on various Tax Division committees.

Ferguson Asset Management. Inc., a fee-only money management firm and registered investment advisor has been named a “Top Dog” financial advisor by Bloomberg Wealth Manager Magazine for the sixth year in a row. The list recognizes top independent wealth management firms across the nation. Firms are selected based on leadership in three major categories: Client Relationships, average assets per client, and number of professionals.

Nahid Maleki, DDS, MS, of Potomac, an orthodontist practicing in Washington, D.C., has been elected to represent the Middle Atlantic Society of Orthodontists (MASO) on the American Association of Orthodontists' (AAO) Board of Trustees. The AAO is the oldest and largest dental specialty organization in the world. In 2006, Dr. Maleki received MASO's Gerard A. Devlin Memorial Award for Distinguished Service, the organization's most prestigious service award. She is a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon, an honorary dental society and is listed in Who's Who in the East and Who's' Who in American Education.

Dr. Neil King, founder of King Chiropractic, addressed the incoming class of National Defense University recently. King Chiropractic, with offices in Montgomery Village, Potomac, and Urbana, Maryland, was founded in 1984, and specializes in sport, spinal, and orthopedic disorders. In the past, Dr. King has lectured the White House Staff and the FBI, and is co-author of two books on golf. He is also featured on www.monkeysee.com, as an expert in posture, golf, and low back pain.

Hassle Free Home Services, Inc., a home management company based in Potomac, announced that it will donate one year of maintenance services to the Jackson Family of Poolesville to help care for the home that was built for them as part of ABC’s Extreme Home Makeover program. The company decided to donate the service, which is valued at approximately $4,000 for the year, after hearing the remarkable story of Felicia Jackson and the 14 children she is raising.

The Treatment and Learning Center’s new Early Learning Center in North Potomac had its grand opening and dedication on Sept. 25. Part of TLC, the newly renovated facility serves 90 children ages 6 weeks to 5 years that were previously housed in two locations.
