Good Shepherd Housing & Family Services BEL13VE Gala nets more than $218,000 toward mission of reducing homelessness and promoting self sufficiency

Supporting Good Shepherd Three for a Song's Karin Paludan, Doug Bowles and pianist Alex Hassan peppered a crowd of more than 300 with 1920s and ‘30s song, dance and music at the Good Shepherd Housing & Family Services BEL13VE Gala at the Crowne Plaza in Old Town. The event netted over $218,000 — $20,000 more than last year in donations from ticket sales and auction items. The Save the Day Super Heroes reverse auction earned more than $40,000 in donations for GSH emergency services while the Send A Kid to Camp reverse auction raised more than $30,000.

Nick Andrus receives the 2013 Joseph T. Adinaro Humanitarian Award for his volunteer contributions from Cheryl Ellsworth, board chair of Good Shepherd Housing & Family Services which has worked since 1974 to help families in Mount Vernon to avoid homelessness. The award is presented annually to the organization's outstanding volunteer. GHS reported that it served more than 700 clients during 2012.
