Reston, VA— Reston Concerts on the Town, the weekly summer concert series at Reston Town Center, will kick off its summer season on June 1. The concerts are free—thanks to a grant from the Reston Town Center Association—and take place every Saturday night, from June 1 thru August 24, from 7:30 pm to 10 pm, rain or shine, under the pavilion at Reston Town Center. The series features talented local and national acts. This year’s line-up features a diverse array of music including boogie-woogie blues; swing; jazz; Latin fusion; Motown; zydeco; and West African rhythms.
This summer's highlights include:
• Mingo Fishtrap (Austin-based national act that plays soul, funk, Motown-pop) – June 22
• Local jazz favorite Chuck Redd bringing an all-star jazz lineup: Nicki Parrott, Adrian Cunningham & Sharón Clark – June 29
• Washington jazz musician David Akers will perform with the 18-piece Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra – July 6
• Boogie-woogie fave Deanna Bogart with her band – July 20
• Mali’s Cheick Hamala Diabate will perform West African rhythms with special guest, blues legend Corey Harris - August 10
