Below is a calendar of festivals and other popular events to look forward to during the summer.

Thursday/May 30-Sunday/June 2

Herndon Festival. The Town of Herndon’s Parks and Recreation Department hosts the annual Herndon Festival. This is a town-wide event and attracts more than 80,000 people from the greater Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area. There is no admission fee to enter the Herndon Festival. Saturday/June 1

Nen Daiko, traditional Japanese drummers, are one of the highlights of the summer Obon Festival at the Ejoki Buddhist Temple in Burke. Founded in the fall of 1994, Nen Daiko emphasizes "a joy and exuberance for expressing ourselves through the beat of the drum," according to the group’s website.
