‘Avenue Q: School Edition’ Opens Thursday at West Potomac

— Beyond the Page Theatre Company of West Potomac High School takes the stage Thursday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. for the first of five performances of “Avenue Q: School Edition.”

The musical that tells the story of a recent college grad name Princeton (David Jarzen) who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on Avenue Q. There, he meets Kate Monster (Lizzy Rader), Rod, the Republican (Eddie Perez), Trekkie (Sam Rainey) and Lucy (Emily Carbone), and other colorful types who help Princeton finally discover his purpose in life.

“Avenue Q: School Edition” is rated PG-13; parents should use discretion however based on the maturity level of their children. Last weekend the theatre company performed a 45-minute version of the show to the Virginia Theatre Association High School Theatre Festival. Beyond the Page Theatre Company was awarded Best Ensemble - Acting, Best Overall Ensemble, Honorary Mention for Overall Performance and Lizzy Rader (Kate Monster) was named to the All-Star/All State Cast.

“Avenue Q: School Edition” will play Nov. 7, 9, 14 and 16 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. All performances are at West Potomac High School in the Kogelman Theatre at 6500 Quander Road, Alexandria.
