St. James’ Episcopal Church Held 2013 Arts and Crafts Fair

— St. James’ Episcopal Church in Mount Vernon held its 6th annual Arts and Crafts Fair on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, with 72 vendors offering hand-crafted items like musical instruments, jewelry, and paintings. The church on Old Mill Road started the tradition in 2008 with only 20 vendors at its 50th anniversary. Proceeds benefit the church’s mission work, which includes re-selling handmade baskets and jewelry from artisans of the Taiti tribe of the Ngambenyi School in Kenya. After re-selling their goods two years ago, the church gave back $600 to the tribe; they are also helping to refurbish the Ngambenyi School in Kenya. The event was co-chaired by Andy De La Cour and Laurie do Carmo and included a bake sale and lunch.
