Foxcroft School senior Amy Edgemond has mastered the art of competitive running in a short time, winning races routinely since joining Foxcroft’s cross country team only a year ago. This year she may well be the best runner in the Delaney Athletic Conference.
She ended up earning All-State honors in VISAA Division II by finishing 16th in the state meet last fall, and Sept. 17 of this year she outran 70 runners to win the initial DAC meet of the season, held at Foxcroft. Edgemond’s performance earned her Athlete of the Week honors for the period ending Sept. 20.
It was the second strong effort of the early cross country season for Edgemond, who finished second among 100 competitors in her first race, an invitational meet held at Quantico, Va., on Sept. 10.
Amy is the daughter of Jamie McClellan and Skip Edgemond of Reston.
