Our Military Kids and Stop Solider Suicide Supported by Fundraiser at Trump National Golf Club

Our Military Kids and Stop Solider Suicide are being supported by the 4th Keller Williams Charity Golf Tournament in October. The tournament will be held Monday, Oct. 28, at Trump National Golf Club Washington in Potomac Falls, Va., with 36 holes on two courses and waterfront vistas of the Potomac River.

Military suicides have reached epic proportions. One active-duty soldier a day and 22 veterans take their own lives. The US military's suicide rate surpassed combat deaths in 2012. Stop Soldier Suicide, founded in 2010 by ex-Army and active-duty soldiers, is trying to make a difference by providing free mental health care as well as additional resources (www.stopsoldiersuicide.org).

Our Military Kids provides grants to the children of deployed military personnel. Four out of five children of active duty military personnel and reservists face increased stress while one of their parents is deployed in defense of their country or while recovering from severe injuries suffered during deployment. Of the monies donated, 95 cents of every dollar goes toward grants that help pay for sports, fine arts and tutoring programs to sustain and nurture the children during the time a parent is away in service to our country. Our Military Kids is located in McLean, VA (www.ourmilitarykids.org).

For guests of the event, the tournament will offer a caddy, cart and lunch, as well as a gourmet reception/dinner, open bar, live music, plus a live and silent auction for the ticket price of $300. To enable KW Cares (the outreach arm of the sponsoring company) to meet the numerous challenges of Our Military Kids and troubled soldiers, they are seeking friends as sponsors of this event and auction item donors to help raise needed funds. Both sponsorship and play is tax deductible.

The event will start at 10 a.m. for registration. Tee time is at noon with a shotgun start, and golf will continue throughout the day until around 5 p.m.

After a day of golf, KW will host a gourmet reception and awards dinner that will include dinner/bar, live music and a live auction and silent auction.
