Arlington: Help Police Identify Suspect

The Arlington County Police Department’s Special Victims Unit is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect involved in an attempted sexual assault and abduction of a female victim which occurred on the Washington & Old Dominion Trail on July 31.

The victim was attacked from behind as she was running in the Glencarlyn Park area of the trail at approximately 8:45 p.m. The suspect forced her to the ground and attempted to cover her mouth with his hand. The female victim was able to scream out for help, causing the suspect to flee northbound on the trail.

The subject is described as a dark-skinned Hispanic male between 20-30 years old, approximately 5’6” tall, weighing 140 pounds. At the time of the incident the subject was wearing long baggy grey shorts without a shirt. The victim, working with Fairfax County Police Department sketch artist, was able to provide details for the attached sketch.
