Parker, of the Fort Belvoir Department of Public Safety, responded to a call from a mother who reported her son was locked in a bedroom, with a knife. He used his training to talk to the youth, diffuse the situation, and get the teen transported to a hospital where he could receive help.

Mount Vernon-Lee Chamber of Commerce hosted its Police and Firefighters Tribute on Thursday, Oct. 23 at the Springfield Hilton. The community gathered to honor 20 members of the local police and fire departments.
