One Suspect Arrested for Mount Vernon Robbery, Another Still at Large

Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect in connection with a robbery that occurred outside the 7-Eleven store at 8434 Frye Road, on Friday, Nov. 18, at about 6:30 a.m.

A 58-year-old woman went into the store and used the ATM to withdraw cash. She left the store and as she walked toward Frye Road, a man grabbed her from behind and threw her to the ground. A second suspect grabbed the victim’s wallet and both suspects fled toward the adjacent apartment complex. The victim did not require medical attention.

One suspect has been identified and arrested. An 18-year-old man from Alexandria was apprehended at his home on Monday, Nov. 21, shortly before 10 p.m. He was transported to the Adult Detention Center and charged with robbery. The second suspect was described as 18-26 years old, of unknown race, about 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was wearing a red jacket, with a reflective vest over it, tan pants and construction style boots.
