A Boo and Brews Festival was held at Lake Anne Plaza in Reston on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, which included the fourth-annual Howl-o-ween Pet Costume Contest, Beer Gardens at all the restaurants, the Holly Montgomery band on the Plaza, as well as a Halloween Costume Contest for people at Kalypso's Sports Tavern. Businesses on the Plaza donated 15 prizes for the pet contest. Live band performances were also held at Lake Anne Brew House, Kalypso’s, and Lake Anne Coffee House & Wine Bar.

There were 38 entrants in this year's Pet Costume Contest. The first-place winners included: Most Creative – Robin Hood and the Merry Men; Best Couple – Little Red Riding Hood, Grandma and the Huntsman; Cross Dresser – Wolf in Sheep's Clothing; Cutest – Mickey and Minnie; and Scariest – Police Woman's Dog and Robin.
