Lake Song

You sing to me in the winter

But I cannot place the tune,

I know you sing to others too,

As you shimmer with the moon.

Do you lament the season’s loss

Of autumn’s grace and beauty?

Are you afraid of winter’s dark

And winds that blow so cruely?

I hear you moan, or do you sigh,

Or are you saying “Life goes By.”

Or do you want to say to me

“Just listen with intensity.”
