The Herndon High Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) performed a flag raising ceremony in honor of Patriot’s Day, with the Herndon and Fairfax County Police Department representatives, the Principal of Herndon High School, Dr. Liz Noto, and a group of student and teacher observers.

The Cadets assembled in front of the new flag poles at Herndon High School during a misty and rainy day. The honor guard marched to the flag plaza and ceremoniously raised the American Flag to the peak of the pole and then slowly lowered the flag to half-mast in accordance with the President’s declaration to the Nation in honor of this 9-11 Remembrance Day. Both Herndon High School Resource Officers were present with representatives from their departments. More than a hundred students and teachers also came.
