Fatal Pedestrian Crash in Alexandria

An 82-year-old man died March 28 after he was hit by a car on March 26. John Bright, of Springfield, was crossing Richmond Highway at the intersection of Fairhaven Avenue around 8 a.m. The driver of a 2000 Toyota Echo was making a left turn from Fairhaven Avenue to Richmond Highway and struck Bright while he was in the crosswalk. Bright was taken to the hospital where he died two days later.

The driver, Robin Greene, of Florida, remained at the scene and is cooperating with detectives. The driver was charged with failing to pay full time and attention to driving. Neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors.
