Reston Association Extends Voting for 2019 Board

Reston Association is extending the voting period in the 2019 Board of Directors’ election to April 3 at 5 p.m. The original deadline of April 1 was changed in order to accommodate some voters who did not receive their ballots when expected earlier this month.

On March 15, 2019, the RA Elections Committee became aware of a technical issue that caused approximately 2,800 paper ballots to be returned to RA as undeliverable. In response, the association has instructed the independent vendor, Intelliscan, to resend the ballots to the correct addresses and has extended the voting period. Results of the election will be announced at the Annual Members’ Meeting on April 9. Although this year's five races are uncontested, a quorum of 10 percent of eligible voters needs to be reached to make the election results official. Anyone who has not yet voted is encouraged to do so.

Cycling from Reston to Alexandria and Back

Reston Association announced it scheduled a day-long multi-modal bike ride for individuals 55+ from Reston to Old Town Alexandria. The plan is to meet at the Wiehle-Reston East Metrorail Station in the morning and take the bikes on the Metro to King Street in Alexandria where participants can explore Old Town and enjoy lunch at the Torpedo Factory. According to RA, after lunch cyclists can ride beside the Potomac River and enjoy the sights on the Mount Vernon Trail to Rosslyn. Then it is back on Metro, or if cyclists want, they can ride back to Reston via the Custis Trail, to the W&OD Trail and home. There are "bail-out points" along the Silver Line. Space is limited to 11.

The ride is Tuesday, May 7, 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Cost is $8/RA members and $10/non-members. Register through RestonWebTrac or contact Ashleigh Soloff at Ashleigh@reston.org or 703-435-6577.
