Thirteen candidates were certified by the Reston Association Elections Committee on Monday, Jan. 29 to run for four open seats in the 2018 Board of Directors election.
During the last week in February, there will be two Candidates' Forums. Reston Association (RA) urges its members to come meet the candidates for the 2018 Board of Directors Election in this debate-style candidates' forum held at the Reston Association Headquarters, 12001 Sunrise Valley Drive, Reston.
RA wants members to know they can pose questions to candidates at the event or submit their questions in advance to electionscommittee@reston.org.
Candidates for the At-Large Race (3-year term, two seats) will participate in a forum on Monday, Feb. 26, 2018, 7-9 p.m. At-Large candidates (3-year term, two seats) are Derrick Watkins, Sridhar Ganesan, Aaron Webb, Travis G. Johnson, John Pinkman, Colin Meade, and Ven Iyer.
Candidates for the At-Large race (1-year term) and South Lakes race will participate in a forum on Tuesday, Feb. 27. At-Large candidates (1-year term) are David Ballard, Andy Sigle, Ray Wedell, and John Bowman. South Lakes District Candidates (3-year term) are Tammi Petrine and Julie Bitzer.
According to the Reston Association website: The voting period for the 2018 election is March 5-April 2. Paper ballots will be mailed on March 5. Electronic ballots are also available to members. A link to the electronic ballot will be provided on the home page of www.reston.org during the month-long election period. The candidates' unedited statements of candidacy can be viewed at reston.org.
