Suspect in Car Break Ins Arrested

Officers from the Franconia District Station arrested a man suspected of breaking into multiple cars in Lorton.

Monday morning, Feb. 5,  around 4 a.m., officers responded to a report of a man actively breaking into cars near the intersection of Bellwether Court and Shepherd Hills Drive in Lorton. When they arrived, officers discovered a vehicle with a broken window. During a search of the area, officers found a 23-year-old Lorton man hiding inside a car with stolen property in his possession. A canvass of the area revealed multiple cars had been broken into.

Detectives from FCPD Criminal Investigations Division determined the same suspect is responsible for multiple previous car break-ins in the Lorton area as well as a stolen vehicle in the West Springfield District. He was arrested and transported to Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and charged with four counts of Vehicle Trespass, four counts of Destruction of Property, Grand Larceny, Petit Larceny, and False Identification to Police. Additionally, the suspect had an outstanding warrant for Failure to Appear in court on felony charges. He was held with no bond. Additional charges are pending further investigation.
