Hinge of Chantilly was named the "Nonprofit Marketer of the Year" in the First Annual M Awards, hosted by the American Marketing Association's D.C. Chapter (AMA-DC), for its pro bono work for the Arlington Symphony. The Arlington Symphony asked Hinge to reinvent its brand, helping the organization reach out to a broader audience and stand out from the area's arts organizations.

Clifton resident Dr. H.R. Makarita has won the People's Choice Award in the 9th Annual American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) National Smile Gallery competition. The event was sponsored by Americus Dental Labs, Inc., and Makarita won for exhibiting outstanding skill in cosmetic dental procedures. Dr. Makarita's work was selected at the organization's 19th Annual Scientific Session in Orlando, Fla. Makarita practices cosmetic dentistry in Oakton.

Harvey Jr., principal of Harvey Insurance and Financial Services of Chantilly, has earned the 2003 Presidents Conference Award, an honor reserved for the company's most productive multi-line agency owners. The award is presented annually to agents who have attained excellence in sales of automobile, homeowners and other property and casualty insurance products, as well as of life insurance and other financial services products.

"Harvey is one of our most outstanding insurance agents, and we're thrilled that he chooses to represent Nationwide," said David Hollingsworth, president of Nationwide Insurance Sales Co.

Scott-Long Construction of Chantilly was awarded the Manson Improvements contract for Washington International School located in Washington, DC. The Manson, currently used primarily for classrooms, will receive electrical lighting upgrades, new paint throughout, new floor coverings and other minor repairs as needed for the upcoming fall school session. Scott-Long specializes in private school projects of all types. Renovation work for the middle and lower school buildings is currently being planned for the summer of 2003 as well.

Scott-Long Construction Inc. of Chantilly has completed "on time" the contract for the renovation and expansion of the Endoscopy Suite at Loudoun Hospital. The work included expanding the current endoscopy suite within the sterile environment surgical area of the hospital, remodeling the adjacent work room and extending the clean corridor to accommodate the new layout.
