At South Lakes High

This year’s International Baccalaureate (IB) Visual Art exhibition took place in the evening of Tuesday, April 29, in the South Lakes gymnastics room and student art gallery. Accompanied by the sounds of the South Lakes Jazz Band, students, parents, teachers, as well as other community members, enjoyed refreshments while marveling at the artistic progress made by 38 IB art seniors over the past two years. Each student artist exhibited the 12 pieces he or she presented to the IB examiner the previous week. The exhibition was a celebration of the overwhelming talent, creativity and versatility of ideas demonstrated by visual art students influenced by artists such as Judy Chicago, Salvador Dali, M.C. Escher, Paul Gaugin, Edward Hopper and Michael Whelan. "Singin’ in the Rain," premiered in the Little Theatre May 1. Those who missed last week’s performances missed hilarious acting, moving singing, entertaining dancing and a number of exciting theatrical surprises. But not to worry, the show goes on. The last three performances of "Singin’ in the Rain," will be May 8, 9, and 10, at 7, 7:30, and 8 p.m., respectively. Call 703-715-4589 to pre-order tickets for a bargain price.
