Super H Mart, 10780 Lee Highway in Fairfax, celebrated its second anniversary on Nov. 18-21. The store is owned by Han Ah Reum, which opened in 1982 in Woodside, N.Y.
Currently, 15 Han Ah Reum stores are open nationwide, including one locally in Merrifield in Gallows Road, said Jong Park of Super H. The company will soon open a new Super H store in Atlanta and plans to open additional Super H stores in Chicago and Los Angeles.
While the company initially catered to Korean clientele, it has grown its client base through carrying foods from a variety of different nationalities. According to Park, 15 percent of the store’s customers are Caucasian.
