<lst>Army Sgt. Scott D. Cole is one of approximately 200 soldiers assigned to the Southern European Task Force (Airborne) based at Caserma Ederle, Vicenza, Italy, who will deploy to Afghanistan to serve as a member of Combined Joint Task Force-76. CJTF-76 is a combined and joint rotation unit supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

Cole, a special operations combat medic, is the son of Beverly S. Forrest of N. Manchester St., Arlington. His wife, Lori, is the daughter of Gregory and Susan Wilmoth of N. Potomac St., Arlington. He is a 1998 graduate of Yorktown High School.

Army Reserve Col. William J. Myers has returned to Wuerzburg, Germany, after a deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The soldier is regularly assigned to the 67th Combat Support Hospital in Wuerzburg. Myers, an orthopedic surgeon, has 16 years of military service. He is the son of Barbara L. Myers of Carlisle, Pa. His wife, Kathy, is the daughter of Betty Scheewe of S. Aberdeen St., Arlington.

Air Force Cadet Daniel A. Nugent has earned honors with placement on the Superintendent's List at the U.S. Air Force Academy, in Colorado Springs. Cadets must have maintained a 3.0 or better grade point average for the Dean's list, a military performance average for the Commandant's List, and a physical education average for the Athletic's List for a semester. Cadets placed on these merit lists are automatically placed on the Superintendent's List. Nugent is the son of Michael and Joyce Nugent of N. Quebec Street, Arlington, and is pursuing a degree in biochemistry.

Army National Guard Pvt. Alith Saengchanh has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Saengchanh's mother is Keophouvieng Saengchanh of N. 10th Road, Arlington. The private is a 2004 graduate of Yorktown Senior High School, Arlington.

Army Reserve Spec. Ha G. Quach has graduated from the Electronic Intelligence Non-communications Interceptor/Analyst Advanced Individual Training course at Fort Huachuca, Sierra Vista, Ariz. She is the daughter of Kieu K. Giao of S. Troy Street, Arlington and graduated in 1993 from T.C. Williams High School.

Army 2nd Lt. Robert A. Morris has graduated from the infantry officer basic course at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. He is the son of Roy R. and Marie B. Morris of N. Tazewell Street and graduated in 2000 from Yorktown High School.

The Arlington County Chapter of the American Red Cross (ARC) is holding a Gala to honor the WWII veterans and Red Cross workers of Arlington County. They are conducting a search for WWII veterans and Red Cross workers who reside in Arlington County to honor as part of the evening. Criteria are: living servicemen, servicewomen and Red Cross workers who were part of WWII, received an honor as part of their service or have continued to volunteer. Information needed includes: veteran's name, address, phone number, e-mail, service/branch, years served, a sentence-or-two summary of WWII experience and any awards given during service or volunteer experience with the Red Cross. Also needed is the source name and contact information, in case of the need for a follow-up, and a digital or hard-copy picture for use during the gala event. Label the back of the picture.
