The SYA Storm U9 Girls soccer team finished as champion of the premium bracket in the inaugural 2008 FPYC Liberty Cup Invitational Tournament on March 29-30. Throughout their tournament play, the SYA Storm went undefeated with 21 goals scored while allowing two goals in four games.
The SYA Storm was victorious against the three teams in the preliminary round: the FC Rockville Strikers, the Fredericksburg Red Dragons and the Northern Virginia Soccer Club Jr. Majestics 98 Blue. The preliminary round ended with SYA Storm having won all three. The SYA Storm advanced to the final against the Braddock Road Youth Club Lightning. The SYA Storm prevailing 3-1. Eight different SYA Storm players scored during the tournament.
