The Virginia Tech Hokies completed their undefeated season by beating the Maryland Terps to win the Mid-Atlantic Women's Lacrosse League Championship at the University of Maryland late last month.
Trailing 5-2 at the half, the Hokies (12-0) came back to tie the game at 10-10 with less than five minutes remaining. The Hokies’ Briana Beach scored soon after in what would become the game-winning goal. Chantilly High School grad Rani McMillan scored an insurance goal with less than two minutes remaining and Hokies held on to secure the 12-10 victory.
The team consists of athletes from across Northern Virginia, including graduates of Chantilly, Mt. Vernon, Oakton, Robinson, Lake Braddock, Westfield, Woodbridge and Paul VI.
The Hokies head to Denver, Colorado for the WDIA National Lacrosse Tournament this week.
