The South County Secondary Men’s and Women’s Junior 4 crew teams captured their respective state championships and have earned the right to compete at the national competition. A total of 46 schools competed in the Virginia State Championship Regatta at Sandy Run Regional Park on May 12. Rowing for the Men’s Junior 4 were Jay Talihani, Ted Coffman, Will Bachman, C.J. Coffey, and Parker Dumas. The Women’s Junior 4 was made up of Emily Tourtellot, Emily Hayes, Stephanie Hendricks, Scout Vitas-Dega, and Laura Bolt. A total of six South County boats competed at the state level. In addition to the first place wins, the team also had fourth, fifth, sixth, and eighth place finishes.
