Flint Hill School Dessert Theater to Present ‘Midsummer/Jersey’

Flint Hill School Dessert Theater will present “Midsummer/Jersey,” Nov. 14-15. The play, written by award-winning playwright, Ken Ludwig, is the hilarious, high-octane retelling of Shakespeare’s “Midsummer Night’s Dream” set on the boardwalk of a seaside town in modern-day New Jersey. The story revolves around the impending marriage of the Governor of New Jersey, the love affairs of four beach-bound high school crushes, a lively crew of fairies and the staff of the local beauty salon (run by Patti Quince and stylist Nikki Bottom). The night takes a magical turn when Oberon and the impish Puck arrive on the scene armed with a powerful love potion and a desire for mischief making. With several weddings and the acting careers of six beauticians hanging in the balance, the lovers take to the boardwalk, backed by pop music and an iPhone-obsessed wood sprite.

The cast includes: Courtney Ebersohl, Matt Middleton, Margaret Hudak, Brandon Lessard, Will deCamp, Pranav Ravikumar, Adam Hillman, Rosamund Mitchell, Claire Briggs, Caira Blackwell, Victoria Barbessi, Ekaterina Gaetjens, Elena Morey, Daven Pillai, Kayla Hewitt, Sydney Ebersohl, Tara Monjazeb, and Nick Skotzko. The stage manager is Jane Braunfeld and the director is Carlo Grossman.

Ken Ludwig has had six shows on Broadway and six in the West End, and he has won two Laurence Olivier Awards, three Tony Award nominations, two Helen Hayes Awards and the Edgar Award.

Performances are at the Olson Theater on Flint Hill School’s Lower and Middle School campus, 10410 Academic Drive, Oakton. The curtain goes up at 7:30 p.m. on both evenings. There is no admission charge. For more information about this and other fine arts productions, email Director of Fine Arts Tim Mitchell, tmitchell@flinthill.org.
