Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a townhouse fire on Feb. 16, at approximately 1:55 a.m., in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County. The townhouse is located at 5237 Pleasure Cove Court.
Firefighters encountered heavy fire coming from the deck and rear of the middle two-story townhouse upon arrival. Firefighters brought the fire under control in approximately 15 minutes. The fire also extended into the kitchen and a bedroom. Three adults and a dog were displaced. Red Cross support is being provided to the occupants. One adult female was transported with non-life threatening injuries.
Damage is estimated at $50,000.
According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. Improperly discarded smoking materials into a plastic flower container caused the fire.
