Letter: Candidate With Vision

To the Editor:

As we move toward the planned significant personnel increase at Fort Belvoir, in response to the BRAC realignment, the Mount Vernon District finds itself at the threshold a potential new and better future — if we are able to the elect a leader on the county Board of Supervisors with the vision and ability to make this better future a reality.

Mount Vernon District Board of Supervisors candidate Dan Storck (who is serving his third term as the Mount Vernon District representative on the county School Board) has a proven track record offering evidence of his political skill and leadership to successfully take advantage of new possibilities presented by the upcoming changes at Fort Belvoir to provide a better future for our community.

Dan Storck’s motivation, passion and accomplishments on the School Board in promoting the best needs and interests of our community are undeniable, and have resulted in numerous endorsements from numerous and varied parties in our community — including outgoing Mount Vernon District Supervisor Gerry Hyland; our brave first responders, including the Virginia Police Benevolent Association, Fairfax Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 77 & the International Association of Firefighters Local 2068; working men & women, including the Service Employees International Union – Virginia 512 and the Northern Virginia Labor Federation; organizations representing our teachers, including the Fairfax County Fairfax County Federation of Teachers and the Fairfax Education Association; business leaders (Dan himself is a successful entrepreneur and businessman) including the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors; and elected representatives, Lt. Governor Ralph Northam, state Sen. Toddy Puller, Del. Scott Surovell, School Board Chair Tammy Derenak Kaufax and School Board members Moon, McElveen, Velkoff, Evans, Hynes, McLaughlin, Smith and Strauss -— among others.

Dan’s visions, for the redevelopment of the Route 1 corridor and leveraging the presence of the Fort Belvoir Hospital and Mount Vernon Hospital to attract medical and medical research enterprises to our district, show the foresight needed to bring the hope of a new and brighter future for our community to fruition.
