FCPL to Hold Community Forum

Fairfax County Public Libraries will hold community forums to see public opinion on what is needed in the community.

FCPL invites the public in three scheduled forums:

  • Saturday, March 19, 10-11:30 a.m. at George Mason Regional Library, 7001 Little River Turnpike, Annandale

  • Tuesday, April 12, 7-8:30 p.m. at Chantilly Regional Library, 4000 Stringfellow Road, Chantilly

  • Thursday, April 14, 7:30-9 p.m. at Kings Park Library, 9000 Burke Lake Road, Burke

Resulting data gathered will be analyzed by fall.

Fairfax County hired CIVICTechnologies to lead a library-focused public engagement initiative with the residents of Fairfax County. The initiative is designed to obtain comprehensive feedback from residents to determine community needs for library services and a path for the future of Fairfax County Public Library. The feedback will be the foundation of a new strategic plan for the library.

The library's Board of Trustees is overseeing the initiative and has directed CIVICTechnologies to gather data from a broad, cross section of county residents about the library.

The feedback will be gathered through public surveys (online and telephone), focus groups, stakeholder interviews, advocate interviews and three community forums. Input will also be sought from library staff through an online staff survey, 12 staff department/division interviews and interactive work sessions with a staff leadership team. The online, public survey will be available in English and Spanish.

More details about this initiative are available by calling 703-324-8319 or at http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/library/.
