Jimmy's Tournament Raises $7,000

Last week 144 golfers participated in Jimmy's Old Town Tavern 7th annual golf tournament, helping to raise $7,000 for the Council of the Arts of Herndon. The money raised from the all-day event, which included donated prizes such as a Harley Davidson motorcycle or a Subaru for the hole-in-one contest, will go to help support the council's student art scholarships and support programs.

"It was fantastic," said Jimmy Cirrito, owner of Jimmy's. "The weather was great, we had the former mayor, the current mayor, we had too many sponsors to list."

Cirrito said the tournament sold out two weeks before the event, and that this is the first year they have had 144 participants, adding next year they wouldn't want more participants because they had to rent golf carts, and only want two teams per hole.

This year's winners of the tournament were Mike Curcio, Ryan Lindstedt, Blake Lindstedt and Doug Eliot.
