Herndon resident Matthew Kirby received the Fairfax County Shining Star Award on Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Fairfax County Government Center. Kirby received the award in the "Accepting Responsibility" category for his volunteering at the Herndon Senior Center. Kirby was one of 82 youths and young adults to receive the recognition.
