Mount Vernon — To the Editor:
The Alexandria Route 1 corridor children that Rising Hope Mission serves need your help. Last year, a few lines of type proved powerful enough to yield 250 donated backpacks and hundreds of school supply items.
This year we are inundated with requests for backpacks, notebooks, ring-binders, color markers, pens and pencils. Already 200 have made requests, but we have only 10 backpacks. If we can get materials by mid-August, we will be able to sort, pack and distribute school supplies in time for the school year.
