Among The Connection’s many excellent carriers, Marie Laverdiere is honored for her service, reliability and dedication as 2011 Springfield Connection Carrier of the Year.
Karate, writing, field hockey, basketball, piano …Laverdiere definitely has a variety of interests. Born in Portsmouth, Va., on Dec. 24, this religious Washington Irving Middle School seventh grader has delivered The Connection for three years and already has college plans. She enjoys curling up with her dogs, Rambler and Holly, or her cats, Oliver and Maggie, to read a chapter of Matched (her favorite book) if she’s not hanging out with friends. Laverdiere says she might use some of her earnings to treat herself to her favorite Chinese food, but generally likes to save it for planned purchases. Each Connection Carrier of the Year receives two Popeye’s meal coupons, two University Mall Theatre passes, and a $10 paycheck bonus.
