Over the Labor Day weekend, the Great Falls Sharks travel softball organization held it's first annual "Nike Field Clean Up Day." Organized by Mike Sharkey and John West in conjunction with Great Falls Little League softball and Fairfax County Parks and Recreation, more than 50 players and parents volunteered their time to beautify Nike 6 softball field. In addition, five volunteers from Kohl's Department store in Sterling assisted as part of their Volunteers in Action program. The volunteers cleaned, repaired and repainted the shed and dugouts, fixed the pitching nets, pulled weeds, installed a new sound system and performed general clean up in preparation for the upcoming softball season. The Great Falls Sharks are a Fastpitch Softball organization in its 7th year of existence helping provide local girls an expanded softball experience.
