Letter: A Common Sense Candidate

To the Editor:

John Foust made a name for himself by serving as a Fairfax County Supervisor for the past seven years. Foust led the effort to balance the budget; while securing universal kindergarten in Fairfax County and pushing for the Metro Silver line transportation improvements.

It’s gratifying to see Northern Virginia recognize John Foust for his accomplishments and strong moral character. Growing up in Johnston, Pa., Supervisor Foust worked at the steel mills to pay for college; when he moved to Virginia, Foust worked fulltime while taking classes at night, earning both an MBA and law degree.

Foust understands what we, as Americans, need to do to keep the American dream alive for all. We need to make higher education more affordable, provide quality healthcare to our working poor, raise the minimum wage, and rebuild our crumbling transportation system.

Northern Virginia needs a member of Congress willing to cross the aisle and find common sense solutions for the big issues: transportation, healthcare and education. Not someone who runs from reporters and supports draconian restrictions on a woman’s right to choose. John Foust deserves our support.
