Destruction of Property - 1000 Block Moorefield Creek Road, SW. Between March 1 at 3 p.m. and March 18 at 3:11 p.m. A resident reported damage to the driver’s side rear door of his minivan.

Animal CaseQuarantine - 400 Block Adahi Road, SE. March 11, noon. An officer received information from the Fairfax County Health Department that a resident had been bitten by a gray pit bull while she was walking in the area. The resident did not know who owned the dog. The officer advised the resident the importance of locating the dog for quarantine to determine the health of the animal and see if there was any potential exposure to her.

Animal CaseQuarantine - 700 Block Upham Place, NW. March 13, noon. A resident was bitten on both of his hands by his cat as he tried to prevent the animal from leaving the house. An officer advised the resident of the quarantine procedure for the cat.

Animal CaseQuarantine - The Hope Center, 140 Park St., SE. March 13, 8 p.m. An employee reported he had been bitten on the finger by a dog while attempting to perform a medical procedure. The Hope Center requested an officer to transport the dog to the Health Department for rabies testing.

Vandalism - 1000 Park St., SE. March 16 between noon and 10 p.m. A resident reported someone vandalized the front door to her house with red spray paint.

Animal CaseQuarantine - The Hope Center, 140 Park St., SE. March 17, 3 p.m. An employee reported she had been bitten on the thumb by a cat during a medical procedure. Due to the cat’s condition the owner decided to have The Hope Center euthanize the cat. An officer transported the cat to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter for rabies testing.

Open Door - 100 Pleasant St., NW. March 18, 11:04 a.m. Officers responding to the report of a residential alarm found the front door ajar. Two officers checked the residence and found nothing to be disturbed. The homeowner arrived on scene and stated that he may not have completely closed the door when he left earlier that morning.

Juvenile Case - 800 Block Maple Ave., NE. March 18, 12:42 p.m. An officer observed a vehicle traveling above the posted speed limit and conducted a traffic stop. Upon his interaction with the male juvenile driver he found that he had been reported as missing from Fairfax County. The officer contacted the juvenile’s mother who responded to the scene and the juvenile was released to her custody.

Grand Larceny - 1400 Block Patrick Circle, SW. Between March 18 at 5 p.m. and March 19 at 1 p.m. A resident reported someone entered his unlocked vehicle, which was parked in his driveway, and stole his laptop, a projector and his wallet.

Welfare Check - 300 Block Holmes Drive, NW. March 19, 12:12 a.m. A citizen requested a welfare check on her adult daughter. She believed her daughter may be in the company of a man she was previously involved with. An officer responded to the man’s residence and spoke to him, but the woman was not there. The officer suggested the citizen follow up with her local police department regarding a missing person’s report.

ArrestDriving While Intoxicated - 900 Block Maple Avenue, East. March 19, 1:58 a.m. An officer observed a vehicle stopped in the roadway on Maple Avenue. The vehicle had partially run off the roadway and the engine was still running. Upon his interaction with the driver, the officer determined that he may be impaired. After failing to complete a series of field sobriety tests he arrested the 50-year-old man from Ley Street in New Haven, Conn. for Driving While Intoxicated. He was transported to the Vienna Police station where he was given the opportunity to provide a sample of his breath for analysis. After failing to submit a sufficient breath sample he was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Refusal to Submit to a Breath Test.

ArrestDrunk in Public - 900 Block Park Street, SE. March 19, 11:55 p.m. An Uber driver reported one of his fare’s had taken the keys to his vehicle as they were driving down Park Street, and the man was refusing to give them back to him. The driver immediately stopped the vehicle and called the police. An officer located the man and found him to be intoxicated. He arrested the 57-year-old man from Shepherdson Lane, SE in Vienna for Drunk In Public. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was to be held until he was sober.

Domestic Dispute - Cedar Lane, SE. March 20, 10:02 a.m. A citizen reported that his friend was having a dispute with her ex-boyfriend. Two officers located the woman who advised that her ex-boyfriend, with whom she previously cohabitated with, would not allow her to retrieve her property and leave the apartment. The officers spoke to the ex-boyfriend who agreed to let the woman into the residence to retrieve her remaining property. The officers remained on scene to maintain the peace until the woman retrieved her property. She then left the area without further incident.

Assault - Locust Street at Park Terrace Court, SE. March 20, 2:48 p.m. An officer was flagged down by a resident who advised that his ex-girlfriend was continuously harassing him. The woman stated that she had personal belongings in the ex-boyfriend’s apartment that she wanted to retrieve. As the officer was advising the woman of the ramifications if she continued to harass her ex-boyfriend she became agitated and grabbed her ex-boyfriend’s shirt. The man refused to pursue charges, and after calming down the woman was allowed to leave the area without further incident.

Found Property - James Madison Shell, 545 Maple Ave., West. March 21 between 7:45 a.m. and 8 a.m. An employee reported finding a wallet that was left at the gas station. The wallet will be held at the Vienna Police Station until the owner can retrieve it.

Assist EMS - Town Hall, 127 Center St., South. March 21, 8:10 a.m. An officer observed a female lying on the sidewalk to the rear of Town Hall with a wheeled walker lying next to her. The female advised she was not injured, but could not get herself back up. The officer summoned assistance from Fairfax County Rescue, who responded and assessed the female for injuries. After their evaluation, the officer assisted the woman into Town Hall to complete her business.

Domestic Assault - Oakmont Court, NE. March 2, 8:21 p.m. Two officers responded to the report of a domestic assault. A resident reported being assaulted by his adult son after an argument. There were no injuries and the resident did not want to pursue charges against his son. The son was cooperative with the officers. He agreed to leave the home for a few days and stay with other relatives to resolve the situation.

Fraud - Bank of America, 235 Maple Ave., West. March 22, 12:53 pm. An employee reported that a black female attempted to cash a fraudulent check. The woman left the area before officers arrived. It was determined that the check had been stolen from a mailbox in Fairfax County the previous day.

Fraud - Capital One Bank, 246 Maple Ave., East. March 22, 1:05 p.m. An employee reported that a black female attempted to cash a fraudulent check. The female had left the area before officers arrived. It was determined that the check had been stolen from a mailbox in Fairfax County the previous day.

Crashes

Maple Avenue, West at James Madison Drive - March 18, 9:43 a.m. The driver of the first vehicle was traveling eastbound on Maple Avenue in the left lane. The driver of the second vehicle was on James Madison Drive, turning left onto Maple Avenue to go eastbound. As the driver of the second vehicle entered the intersection he struck the first vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle was issued a summons for Failure to Pay Full Time and Attention.

1300 Block Cottage Street, SW - March 18 3:08 p.m. Two vehicles were traveling northbound on Cottage Street. The driver of the first vehicle came to a stop behind a vehicle that was attempting to turn left into a driveway. The driver of the second vehicle failed to stop and ran into the rear of the first vehicle. This caused the airbag of the second vehicle to deploy. Neither driver was injured. The driver of the second vehicle was issued a summons for Failure to Pay Full Time and Attention.

Maple Avenue and Mill Street, NE - March 18, 3:48 p.m. The driver of the first vehicle was traveling westbound on Maple Avenue approaching Mill Street. The driver of the second vehicle was traveling southbound on Mill Street attempting to turn right onto Maple Avenue when the he collided with the first vehicle.

Maple Avenue and Follin Lane, SE - March 21, 11:43 a.m. Two vehicles were in the same lane eastbound on Maple Avenue. As they approached the intersection of Follin Lane the traffic light turned yellow. The first vehicle stopped for the light. The driver of the second vehicle could not stop in time and ran into the rear of the first vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle was issued a summons for Following Too Close.

600 Block Kingsley Road, SW - March 21, 12:50 p.m. A resident reported witnessing a white compact Honda veer off the road and strike a black trash can. The driver left the area without stopping. While investigating the crash, the officer noticed the vehicle appeared to have also sideswiped a utility pole causing superficial damage. The tire tracks indicated the vehicle continued onto the sidewalk and partially through the front yards of two other residents, leaving tire tracks, but no real damage.

200 Block Park Terrace Court, SE - Between March 21 at 8:30 p.m. and March 22 at 11:20 a.m. The owner of a legally parked vehicle returned to find it had been struck by an unknown vehicle.

225 Maple Avenue, East - March 23, 4:41 p.m. A pedestrian was exiting a store and, as she entered the parking lot, was struck by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle advised they were lost and did not see the pedestrian until they struck her. The pedestrian had visible injury to her foot, but refused rescue and advised she would transport herself to a medical facility.
