At the Northern Virginia Urban League’s 19th Annual Community Service & Scholarship Awards Dinner on Friday, April 24, its 2009 Excellence in Leadership Awards were presented. This year’s awardees are: Thomas A. Moorehead of BMW of Sterling, Robin C. Brooks of Brooks Food Group, Abe Abraham of CMI Management Inc., Joseph E. Fergus of Communication Technologies Inc., Reginald L. Brown Jr. of Infiniti of Chantilly, Darrell L. Crapps of SENTEL, Warren M. Thompson of Thompson Hospitality are Earl W. Stafford of UNITECH.
Excellence in Leadership Awards were also presented to six "Emerging Businesses." The awardees are: Chastiti Dawson of The Adellsen Group, Angela Y. Moody of EDJ Associates Inc., Micheal E. P. Davis of Global Business Network Association, Steven A. Johnson of Invizion Inc., Lt. Col. Jerome Johnson (Ret.) and Major Brenda Johnson and Darnell Lee and Alverta Lopez of W&T Travel Services.
The final presentation was made to 10 Northern Virginia high school students. The 2009 NVUL Scholarship recipients are: Rebecca Bergena of Washington Lee High School in Arlington, Danielle Coles of Potomac High School in Dumfries, Robert Mack Cordell III of Mt. Vernon High School in Alexandria, Denarius Frazier of Forest Park High School in Woodbridge, Yasir Hussein of T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Stephanie Renee Mitchell of Chantilly High School in Chantilly, Keith Michael Phox of Hayfield High School in Alexandria, Erica Nicole Shockley of South Lakes High School in Reston and Ariell Thompson of Thomas Edison High School in Alexandria.
